Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop stars. She was an artist who could effectively bridge the gap between pop and country music, conquering the globe. Swift is shedding her country roots as if she was shedding skins for second purposes, showing herself to be the most savvy pop singer/songwriter within her generation. Swift is able to harness the current zeitgeist and turn it into her own. Swift's first hits, particularly their neo song in tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. But her 2008 album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was discovering herself and finding a large audience. The album was hugely successful not only in the United States, where six of its singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around the globe. Swift's next album, Speak Now, released nearly two years following the debut, further consolidated this momentum. The album propelled Swift to the heights of fame. The popularity of Swift only grew over her next three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and found her moving assuredly into the realm of pop in which she was already a part. While she reduced her work with folklore and Evermore released in 2020, she was at the forefront of pop music.
