Harry Styles attended the Holmes Chapel Comprehensive school where together with three students, he formed his own group of musicians, called White Eskimo. They participated in the Battle of Bands where thanks to their impressive performances they won. He worked for a time part-time in a bakery within his town to help financially at home. Harry Styles performed Is not She Lovely (Stevie Wonder) at the auditions of 2010 for The X Factor. The group was then forced to break up due to this. Nicole Scherzinger told Harry Styles, Liam Payne Zayn Milik Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson that they'd be forming a group named One Direction after the X Test audition. Simon Cowell sponsored the young group in 2010. The group sang Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Be Sucky without You and Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart in the competition, which allowed them to become the frontrunners to win the competition. Despite this, they finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson. Harry Styles, his group as well as Cowell were not able to win the competition. But Cowell offered Harry Styles a 2 million dollar contract with Syco.
