
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on March 22, 1976, is an American actress. A recipient of various awards which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as the Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she has always been a top performer among the top actresses paid in the world. Time magazine and Forbes both listed her as one of the 100 most influential people around the world in 2005 and in 2006 and 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's most successful actress, with an estimated net worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenagerand made her film debut with The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she was a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions and in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Her parts in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) earned her more recognition. In 2005, she received praise from critics and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a dip in career, the only box-office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen in the form of a producer and played in Wild (2014). She got a second Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she has been heavily involved in television productions and has starred in several female-led literary adaptations. They include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020) All HBO dramas. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the first one. She has also produced the adaptations to film Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing company, Draper James, and she is involved with women's and child advocacy organizations. She sits on the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was also honored to serve as the chair of Avon Foundation's foundation's charitable cause for women in 2007.
